Meet The Face Behind On The Go Mobility
I’m Kraig Ausman, proud owner of On The Go Mobility.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
When my father needed a mobility scooter, we went from one dealer to another. We were shocked to learn that the dealers were selling equipment without displaying any of them in their stores. Moreover, they knew nothing about the products, had never ridden one, and could not tell us if we could travel with them.
While there were brochures that cleared some of our doubts, we were angry that they were selling goods with an empty storefront. It was then that we decided to open a store that displayed equipment for people to view, feel and try out. On The Go Mobility has now been in business for almost twenty years.
When we first started, the idea of selling medical equipment or rental was unheard of. You could only get equipment from stores if you had a prescription and adequate insurance. You got what they wanted to deliver and once your insurance cleared. It was also uncommon for a store to have a display area. All the operations took place in industrial parks and going to their office was unusual. We always have a display room, with posted hours, and trained professionals who have tested the equipment and are familiar with their installation and use.
The idea of taking an immobile person and opening the world back to them drives us every day. As someone with mobility issues, I have taken “my scooter” shopping, to Lambeau Field, Miller Park, the zoo, Summer Fest, Fourth of July Fireworks, Chicago Science and the Industry museum. I also took a flight to Florida, a cruise ship to Cuba, and so much more. The dogs enjoy being walked and the kids love to sit on my lap and ride along. When I load the baskets with everybody’s stuff, I feel like the pack mule of the group. I love it!
At On The Go Mobility, our business philosophy is to provide products that let our clients “Keep the home they love and stay On The Go.” We believe what sets us apart from the others is our core value of treating our clients like family. Besides, we have knowledgeable salespeople who can understand and anticipate the clients’ needs, and think outside-the-box. In addition to this, we offer quick repair service. We even once had a client, with no legs, come in on a skateboard and left sitting tall on a scooter.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things that matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
